“Suspiria” Remake Hits A Brick Wall… Again
The world breathes a sigh of relief… for now.
The prospective remake of Dario Argento’s 1977 horror masterpiece “Suspiria” has inspired bile and fury for fans of the original. Apparently Natalie Portman and her production company know better and between them and David Gordon Green have endeavored to “reinvigorate” the timeless classic.
Green has apparently stated “Suspiria is caught up in legal crap so who knows what will ever happen to that. That kind of falls into the ‘Confederacy Of Dunces’ category of ‘someday I’d like to make these movies’ that I was once attached to and worked on, but they may never happen.”
So for once the law has actually protected the world, kudos, but we can’t celebrate too prematurely, the road will be long and perilous and it’s still very possible we may have the remake on our hand in the next few years. I’m no remake purist but I think some things are best left well alone or the fans may start a coven of their own… and we know how that works out.
