King Arthur’s Sword (2017)
On sale at your local Sainsburys right now for a fiver is King Arthur’s Sword.
Buyer beware as they say this film is also known as King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table and it’s an Asylum knockoff timed to coincide with the imminent release of Guy Ritchie’s hotly anticipated King Arthur: Legend of the Sword (2017).
Needless to say if you are expecting an Excalibur (1981 and £3 in Sainsburys right now) style sword and sorcery in Merry Olde England romp, you are going to be disappointed. What you will get is Morgana and Mordred coming back to Earth from space to take on the descendents of Arthur, Lancelot, Guinevere et al, who are taking part in a martial arts competition in modern-day Bangkok complete with zombies, guns and a giant fire-breathing robot. Read my Diabolique review for more.
It’s as bonkers as any other Asylum release, I give it a 222/666, treat yourself to Excalibur instead, you get Helen Mirren and save yourself £2.
