One of our favourite shorts from last year David Chaudoir’s Bad Acid has been acquired by Amazon Video after the film won a competition through the Promax Film Festival. The tale of the washed up stage hypnotist magician Marvin Maskelyn has just finished its festival run, where it won Best Short Film at Glasgow’s Popcorn Horror film Festival and was screened at the London Short Film Festival and festivals in Canada and the USA.
In the film Maskelyn discovers a mind altering acid tab that opens a gateway to our world for a supernatural entity, within a middle eastern lamp that he buys as a stage prop from a mysterious antiques shop. Bad Acid reminds us of those marvellous Amicus Portmanteau horror films of the 1960s and 70s with their self-contained stories, it’s a great short movie.
Bad Acid will be available from Amazon from 6 June.
